PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (NewsNation) — Vice President JD Vance was in Peachtree City, Georgia, Thursday to make the Republican Party’s case for the recently passed "big, beautiful bill."

Vance’s stop aims to pitch working-class voters on the promised perks of the bill, including ending taxation on tipped wages.

The vice president pointed to his mother, Bev Vance, whom he said waited tables for a period of time.

The stop also comes as Republicans across the country are being met with hostile town halls from voters who claim the new tax law is a transfer of wealth from the poorest Americans to the wealthiest. Critics have also warned that cuts to Medicaid funding will result in hospital closures — particularly in rural communities.
