SARTELL, Minn. — The skeletal remains found last week in a 1960s-era car submerged in the Mississippi River might be the missing piece for the decades-old disappearance of Roy G. Benn of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.
The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office is using bone sample analysis to positively identify Benn, who was 59 when he was last seen on Sept. 25, 1967.
“As of today, we have reason to believe that it is him,” Midwest Medical Examiner's Office Director Shane Sheets told St. Cloud LIVE during a phone call on Thursday, Aug. 21. “However, we must perform the scientific identification necessary … to confirm someone's identity.”
The Stearns-Benton County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team on Aug. 13 recovered the 1963 4-door metallic blue Buick Electra, believed to have belonged to Benn, at the b
