Indio and La Quinta officials will hold a remembrance next month to honor the lives lost during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 and other commemorative events, it was announced Thursday.
In Indio, a remembrance and a groundbreaking ceremony for a 9/11 Memorial will be held Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. at Miles Avenue Park, at 82540 Miles Ave.
“This year’s ceremony is made even more meaningful as we break ground on Indio’s 9/11 Memorial, a place where our community can come together to remember, to learn and to honor the bravery of those who served and sacrificed,” Mayor Glenn Miller said in a statement. “We hope it will inspire future generations to carry forward the values of resilience and solidarity.”
