LITCHFIELD, Minn. — The suspect accused of stabbing a man and robbing him of $23,000 in cash before leaving the victim lying in a ditch in rural Meeker County was found guilty of attempted murder in the second degree.

Tre Anthony Ertl, 27, of Litchfield, Minnesota, was acquitted on a first-degree attempted murder charge Wednesday, Aug. 20, after approximately seven days of jury trial in Meeker County District Court.

He was found guilty of three of the four felonies charged against him: The jury also rendered guilty verdicts for first-degree aggravated robbery and first-degree assault.

Ertl was charged alongside two others with assaulting an Olivia, Minnesota, man at a boat access in June of 2024. At the hospital, it was determined that the man had suffered a broken jaw, broken rib, a
