LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Tomatoes and green peppers are just a few of the fresh picks at the Carbondale Farmers' Market right inside the United Neighborhood Center's Fallbrook Affordable Housing Community.
The non-profit on a mission to provide the necessary resources for thriving communities opened a farmer's market in Scranton and this farmers' market in Carbondale years ago. A new grant is helping each one grow its impact.
"So, the specific grant that we wrote for this time was to help us reach not only more customers for our vendors, but to reach more vendors," said Roger Young, United Neighborhood Center, Director of Community Revitalization.
Recently, the non-profit's two farmers' markets were awarded a grant by the Food Trust's PA Fresh Food Financing Initiative.
