FERRYSBURG, Mich. — One hour into Ferrysburg’s City Council meeting on Monday, chaos erupted after a four-minute rant by Ferrysburg Mayor Richard Carlson.

“She’s never got over losing her mayoral and has been hell-bent with relentless attacks on city council, all our city volunteers, staff and even reaching into our county building,” said Mayor Richard Carlson during the meeting.

Carlson was addressing former Ferrysburg Mayor Rebecca Hopp about an ethics complaint she filed in July concerning the reappointment of Commissioner Jake Stearley’s wife, Emily, to the city’s recreation committee in mid-June.
