GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Data from housing analytics company ResiClub shows that home prices are continuing to be slashed in several areas of the country as demand slows down.

Grand Valley State University Economics professor Paul Isely says that's not the case here in West Michigan.

“There were less houses available to purchase for this big group of people coming into the housing market," Isely said. "That started to result in those prices being bid up. And it got bid up to the point where it became unaffordable for many people.”

Isley said that there's, in fact, a housing shortage in the area that continues to drive up value.

He said that there's currently a one-month supply in the Kent County area.
