Alaska’s third-longest serving attorney general since statehood, Treg Taylor, is resigning from his post.

Governor Mike Dunleavy announced Thursday that he has accepted Taylor’s resignation. Taylor was first appointed in 2021.

“Attorney General Treg Taylor’s sound legal judgment and dedication to public service have made a meaningful difference for Alaska,” said Governor Dunleavy in a statement. "From defending our right to develop Alaska’s natural resources to fighting crime, his legal leadership has helped preserve and advance opportunities for everyday Alaskans.”

The governor’s office said an acting attorney general will be named on or before Taylor’s last day, scheduled for Friday, August 29.
