A man is in custody after gesturing at a woman with an intent to sexually assault her and then allegedly attempting to do so, according to Colorado Springs police.

Chukwudi Anakoro, 40, was arrested Wednesday after the Colorado Springs Police Department was called to a business in the 1000 block of Kelly Johnson Boulevard, located in the Chapel Hills Mall area, around 9:45 a.m.

After arriving, officers saw Anakoro and immediately detained him, police said in an online blotter entry. He allegedly displayed behavior and gestures that were "indicative of his intent" to sexually assault the woman, according to police.

Anakoro is being held in the El Paso County jail on a $2,000 bond, jail records show. He is set to appear in court the morning of Aug. 29.
