SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Human connections through social media are causing a unique situation during times of global unrest.
A group of Native Americans in South Dakota is forming friendships with Palestinians and is taking part in a fast to highlight the hunger of those in the Gaza Strip, especially children.
Just as Palestinians are fleeing violence to the south now, the Native American ancestors of Maggie Ross fled to a reservation years ago.
She pointed to their pictures on her virtual background.
“And they were exiled out of Minnesota. And they were put through a lot of the same treatment that the Palestinians are going through right now,” Ross said.
