Judge Frank Caprio, who is mostly known for his heartfelt viral court moments from the local television series “Caught in Providence,” which earned himself and the show national attention, has died. He was 88.

On Wednesday, a post on his official Facebook page confirmed that Caprio “passed away peacefully” after a “long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.”

“Beloved for his compassion, humility, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people, Judge Caprio touched the lives of millions through his work in the courtroom and beyond,” the statement continued. “His warmth, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him.”

The statement further said the former Providence, Rhode Island, judge “will be remembered not only as a respected judge, but as a devoted husband
