KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. -- A section of Highway 97 is closed due to a wildfire burning on Thursday afternoon, according to Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.

Around 4 p.m. on August 21, KCSO reported a closure on Highway 97, around milepost 162, near the crest of Blewett Pass.

The Sheriff's Office said the fire is burning on both sides of the highway.

KCSO said only residents of Liberty and nearby areas are allowed north of the Lauderdale junction.

A photo provided by KCSO shows an RV that appears to be on fire on the side of the highway, but no information about what caused the fire or the condition of the RV has been provided.

As of 5 p.m., no evacuations are in place.

This is a developing story.
