The body of a 28-year-old Allentown man was recovered Thursday afternoon in the Lehigh River after he jumped off a city bridge, authorities said.
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office is withholding the identity of the deceased as they await notification of next of kin. An autopsy is planned for Friday to determine the cause and manner of death.
“My thoughts and heartfelt condolences are extended to the family, friends, and community of the decedent,” Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said in a statement Thursday evening.
The incident happened just after 12:30 p.m. when witnesses observed the man on the north side of the Tilghman Street Bridge. Witnesses reported seeing the man jump into the river. Authorities said the water was about 10 feet deep in that section, authorities sa
