Mayor Eric Adams’ rivals are seizing on the latest corruption charges circling his administration.

“It is embarrassing for the city of New York. It’s sad for the city,” former Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. “This makes it a mockery. It plays to the worst impression that you could have. It feeds the worst cynicism. It’s all for sale. Government for sale.”

Cuomo himself has had a close brush with bribery schemes. His ex-top aide, Joe Percoco, was convicted of receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for political influence with the Cuomo administration.

Percoco was sentenced to six years in prison in 2018 and was said to refer to the bribes as “ziti.” Percoco was released in 2023.
