NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A man who was in police custody managed to escape outside a New York City hospital Thursday evening, according to police.

The suspect, a 34-year-old male, managed to escape outside of NYU Langone Health at 8:42 p.m., police said. He was seen near FDR Drive and East 30th Street.

It remains unclear if he was being taken to the hospital.

A full investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.
