KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WITN) - With the high tide from earlier tonight, the Town of Kill Devil Hills says it is experiencing ocean overwash from Hurricane Erin.
Water has breached the dunes at multiple beach access areas in Kill Devil Hills and there is some standing water and sand along NC 12.
The town is urging people to use extreme caution when traveling along the Beach Road.
They remind drivers that floodwaters are extremely dangerous. Even shallow water can knock you off your feet or sweep a vehicle away. If you encounter a flooded street, turn around and do not attempt to drive through the water.
