HANKINSON, N.D. — A tornado touched down near Hankinson on Thursday evening, August 21, causing tree and crop damage but no reported injuries.

Richland County Emergency Management confirmed multiple tornadoes on the ground around 6 p.m., near the South Dakota line. The storms damaged beans and corn in the fields, as well as trees, but did not hit any structures or people.

Video from the scene, shared with WDAY News from Eric Klindt, showed the tornadoes moving through open country, sparing homes and businesses.

Hankinson is about 63 miles south of Fargo.
