MULLINS, S.C. —
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged a now former police officer with embezzlement and misconduct in office.
According to the arrest warrant, on May 24, 24-year-old Chrisgen Shemar Gause, a police officer with the Mullins Police Department, sold an iPhone for $140. The phone was property of the police department and had been purchased with public funds. Latest Forecast

SLED said that on June 9, Gause reported to the police department that the phone was taken from inside their office.
On Thursday, Aug. 21, SLED charged Gause with embezzlement of public funds less than $10,000 and misconduct in office. He was booked into the Marion County Detention Center.
