PAINESVILLE, Ohio — City officials and community leaders gathered Aug. 13 to celebrate two major redevelopment projects in Painesville’s downtown square.

Renew Partners LLC broke ground on the $28 million Victoria Place project, which will transform a 191,000-square-foot former mall and office complex on Painesville Square into a mixed-use property.

Once a hub of downtown commerce, the long-vacant building is being redeveloped into 78 market-rate apartments on the top two floors and commercial space on the first floor.

“Today we celebrate more than a groundbreaking,” City Manager Doug Lewis said in a post on social media. “We celebrate a milestone in Painesville’s resurgence – a transformation of the past into a bright, promising future.”
