HORNELLSVILLE, N.Y. (WENY) -- The National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report into the plane crash in Hornellsville earlier in the month.
The report sheds some new light on what happened before the Cessna 152 crashed into the woods near Morton Hill Road on the evening of August 1st. According to the NTSB, the single engine plane took off from Ledgedale Airpark in Brockport -- approximately 64 miles north of Hornellsville. Witnesses reported seeing the plane circling the area before "entering a descending right turn" and hitting the ground. The NTSB said an eyewitness shot video of the plane circling and "the sound of the engine could be heard". Other witnesses also reported seeing the plane circling at a low altitude with the engine in operation before the crash.
