MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - As the fall season approaches, flu season is right around the corner. For the first time, you can give yourself a flu vaccine at home.

FluMist is an FDA approved at-home nasal spray flu vaccine for those ages two through 49 years old. It can be shipped straight to your door, or you can pick it up at Walmart.

To use it, officials say to spray the vaccine into each nostril and within about two weeks you will have protection from the influenza virus.

UW-Madison professor at the School of Pharmacy Mary Hayney praised the vaccine and said it is very safe.

“We have a long history of using it,” said Hayney. “It will be great to have that convenience to be able to administer the vaccine to yourself in the comfort of your own home.“
