MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - For the first time, high school students are being included in a decade-long neighborhood back-to-school party in Madison.
For 10 years, the Theresa Terrace Neighborhood Center has hosted its Back 2 School Block Party — an event that brings neighbors together while easing the financial burden of school supplies.
The celebration, held Thursday, offered more than 400 backpacks filled with supplies, along with free food, face painting, a rock-climbing wall and family activities. Organizers said the need for backpacks continues to grow.
“But we’ve definitely seen more and more people come for backpacks and have increased the need every year,” said Wisconsin Youth Company CEO Rebecca Carlin.
