JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Greater Johnstown Water Authority Board voted 8-2 Thursday to submit an application to increase its PENNVEST loan to $26.2 million to fund the North Fork spillway project.

Even though the dam owned by the GJWA is structurally sound, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has mandated the GJWA to fortify it to withstand a catastrophic, once-in-1,000-year storm – or face fines. ×
