After over 30 years of waiting, Pat McCarthy took a Hail Mary. It worked — she returned a jacket to Doug Flutie.

"Oh my goodness," the Boston College, CFL and NFL star quarterback said when McCarthy had him unzip the garment bag she'd stored it in. Flutie said he thought only five of the maroon jackets, which commemorated the 1985 Cotton Bowl he and his Eagles won, were made.

Flutie gushed over the blast from the past, and when McCarthy said it was his to keep, he replied, "Are you kidding me?" and gave her a hug.

"I know my father-in-law and my father had one, and obviously I was given one at one point. Stuff disappeared over the years," he said outside of Campanelli Stadium, where the Brockton Rox baseball team
