Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has invited President Donald Trump to visit the state next month for a public safety walk and to discuss strategies for effective public safety policies.

The invitation comes after Trump responded to Moore’s comments earlier this month regarding the federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department and the deployment of the National Guard in Washington, D.C.

Moore sent a letter to Trump Thursday, in which he said the National Guard should be used for emergencies and not to police cities.
