GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - A development project that would bring 650 apartment units to downtown Greenville continues to receive pushback from longtime residents.
On Thursday night, the City of Greenville’s Design Review Board unanimously approved the next phase of the project .
Johnston Design Group plans to construct at least two buildings for the apartments at the corner of Main and Academy Streets.
“The goal of this development is to create a gateway into Downtown Greenville from that corner that will be welcoming on the pedestrian scale, but would also have a grand sense of scale,” Architect Scott Johnson said.
Several residents took to the podium during the public hearing to express their ongoing dissatisfaction.
