MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Fire Department said Thursday that they'd been awarded a nearly $360,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) to enhance emergency mass notification systems.

The funding provides four years of service for the city's "Hyper-Reach" and "Integrated Public Alert and Warning Systems (IPAWS)," which are used by the fire department for rapid, reliable emergency notifications to residents, MFD said.
