Residents of Falling Creek Road in Hickory got an answer to a request about reducing speeding, though it was not exactly what they hoped to hear.
Fourteen residents on Falling Creek Road filed a petition for the city to take action about speeding on the road, according to documents at Tuesday's Hickory City Council meeting. Some residents wanted a stop sign and flashing red lights at an intersection.
The city proposed adding “speed reduction markings” along Falling Creek Road from 36th Avenue Northeast to 39th Avenue Northeast to address the concerns.
In meeting documents, the city said, “Traffic division staff received the completed petition from property owners along Falling Creek Road NE with regards to the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program and have found the property owners to be
