Nestled in Suite 102 of the Payne Shoemaker Building is downtown Harrisburg’s newest place to grab coffee and a sweet treat: the Wake and Bake Café .

The cafe and bakery offers dozens of options for breakfast, lunch or a snack.

Elle Daniels began selling cakes and other baked goods from her home in 2023. She said that as she began her business, she quickly realized it might be worth it to have a “home base.”

“I started a home bakery in 2023, and before that, baked for fun,” Daniels said. “I started making cakes for events and stuff, [but] needed a home base. We wound up getting a small business loan, and the place we got kind of fell into our laps.”

The cafe serves some “super yummy” breakfast items, like its signature avocado toast, coffee and baked goods.
