LAKE MILLS - Lake Mills is eying a three peat.

The Bulldog boys' cross-country team has won two straight Class 1A state titles and are in hopes of their third in 2025. The team returns three seniors who are ready to make a big impact once again: Hayden Thompson, Knute Rogne and Stephen Brandenburg.

Only two other programs have won three consecutive 1A titles since 1980 and they did it back-to-back. Nodaway Valley won three in a row from 2015-17 and Madrid followed by winning the next three from 2018-2020.

“It’s definitely a goal of ours to win it again, because we’ve done it twice and we know what it takes to do it,” Rogne said. “We want to go get it. Whatever happens, happens. But we’re definitely going to get it.”
