AMES — The key to unleashing third-year starting quarterback Rocco Becht may just be to let Rocco focus on being Rocco.

If the Cyclones are to build on their record 11-win 2024 season, Becht will be a major piece of the equation. Everyone, including Becht, knows there are external expectations for him to lead the Cyclones to the Big 12 Championship again. He has already made preseason watch lists for the Davey O' Brian Award (best college quarterback) and Maxwell Award (Best college player).

Last season, Becht threw for 250.4 yards per game and 25 touchdowns, both fifth-best in the Big 12. His leadership and control of ISU’s offense proved priceless in one-score wins against Iowa , UCF , Utah , Kansas State and Miami .
