The Greenville County Coroner's Office said 40-year-old Cesar Humberto Pena was directing traffic at the intersection of Terramont Drive and East North Street in Taylors near the Brushy Creek Soccer Complex.
An investigation determined that Pena was directing traffic while wearing a reflective vest when he was hit by a vehicle.
Pena was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
The investigation remains active for both the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Greenville County Coroner's Office.
