After a lengthy closed session Tuesday, the Nelson County Board of Supervisors voted 3-1, with Chair Erie Reed opposed, on a resolution that dissolves the local appointed board overseeing the county’s department of social services and replaces it with the county administrator.
The vote came roughly three months after the board sent a May 23 letter to the Nelson County Social Services Board voicing concern on a “inexcusable decline” of the county department of social services’ level of collaboration and communication with key local partner agencies on numerous child protective services cases.
