TACOMA, Wash. — Former Seattle SuperSonics star Shawn Kemp was sentenced to 30 days electronic home monitoring and a year of community custody Friday in a case stemming from a shooting at Tacoma Mall in 2023.

Kemp must serve 20 hours of community service per month - mostly in the Tacoma/Pierce County area - for those 12 months of community custody.

Kemp pleaded guilty in May to one count of second-degree assault , after previously facing a charge of first-degree assault. Friday's sentencing was open, meaning prosecutors and the defense were allowed to argue for sentencing recommendations.
