An online fundraiser to help pay for funeral costs for a 13-year-old girl killed in an early-morning crash in Marblehead this week has doubled its goal in just three days.
Savanah Gatchell was killed in the crash at 352 Atlantic Ave. around 3 a.m. on Tuesday. The driver of the car, a 16-year-old boy, has been charged with motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and operating under the influence of liquor, as well as two civil motor vehicle infractions.
Officials have not said what led up to the crash or identified the boy who was driving.
The fundraiser, organized by Hayden Sozanski, notes Gatchell was “deeply loved by so many.”
“She had a huge heart and always cared for others. She was the kind of person you could turn to when you were sad
