STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. (KFVS) - It appears Missouri’s only verified big cat sanctuary is about to shut down.
According to its webpage, Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary will permanently close its doors sometime this fall.
They made the announcement on Monday, August 18.
The sanctuary has called Ste. Genevieve its home since 2004.
The final public tour at Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary will take place on Sunday, September 28.
The sanctuary said two of its tigers, Sebastian and Shakira, will be moved to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Due to the advanced age of the sanctuary’s third tiger, Thor, she will remain at Crown Ridge to live out her life in familiar surroundings.
The owners of Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary have not said why the rescue is closing.
