BARRY COUNTY, Mo. -- A man from Monett has died in an accident in Barry County on Thursday, August 21, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on private property on State Highway Z three miles east of Monett at around 4:46 p.m., the crash report states. The man got out of a 2005 Ford F-250 and was behind the pickup truck when it rolled backwards and hit the victim.

The Barry County Coroner pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. He was 81 years old. The next of kin has been notified of his passing.

This is the 80th fatality in MSHP Troop D in 2025.
