An office block in Sutton Coldfield has been flattened as long awaited plans for a new hotel block look to be moving closer.
The Royal pub and hotel in High Street submitted plans to build a new hotel block with bedrooms and retail space at ground floor four years ago on the site of Quality House
That building, known locally as the ‘Butco building’, faced High Street – but has now been demolished.
The planning proposal was to build a new four-storey block by the railway line and steps away from Grade II listed The Royal to create 52 new bedrooms and commercial space at the ground floor.
The proposal would see the old three-storey block replaced by one a storey higher, albeit there would be hotel rooms in the roof space.
Concerns over the height of the new building were countered by Ph
