A four-day wildfire warning has been issued for Scotland, with residents told to "exercise extreme caution". ‌

Fire chiefs have considered the risk for wildfires across the whole country as "very high". The alert came into place on Friday, August 22 and will last until Monday, August 25. ‌

It will then extend for central and eastern areas of the country until Tuesday, 26 August. Low lying areas with green grass are at a lower risk, however, residents should still exercise extreme caution during this period. ‌

Wildfires have the potential to burn for days and devastate vast areas of land and wildlife, threatening the welfare of nearby communities.
