BIDDEFORD, Maine — At least three men were taken into police custody Friday morning in Biddeford.

NEWS CENTER Maine sent crews to the scene on Proctor Road for several hours in an apparent standoff.

The scene escalated shortly before 9:30 a.m., when law enforcement appeared to take three people into police custody.

Crews at the scene heard police using a bullhorn in what appeared to be an attempt to reach another individual. Law enforcement were seen armed with shields and long rifles.

Biddeford's police chief told NEWS CENTER Maine that the three individuals were not arrested but were detained for questioning.

No injuries among law enforcement were reported, the chief also said.

Police also said a news release was expected to be released later in the day.
