The National Park Service will celebrate its birthday on Aug. 25 and you can join the fun at one of the park service's sites in Michigan.

The NPS was established Aug. 25, 1916, with former President Woodrow Wilson's signing of the Organic Act, according to the park service's website. The federal agency now manages more than 400 national parks and other sites across the U.S., including six Michigan sites .
