Northstar rail service has been suspended Friday morning following a crash between a train and a vehicle in Coon Rapids.

A Metro Transit spokesperson tells Bring Me The News the collision happened just after 7 a.m. near the intersection of 119th Ave. NW and Northdale Blvd. in Coon Rapids.

The car was reportedly on the train tracks when the crash occurred. The crossing is equipped with warning lights, bells, and gates, per authorities.

The crash investigation prompted Northstar service to be temporarily suspended in both directions. The route is being replaced with temporary bus service for commuters.

The driver of the car was taken to an area hospital, but their condition is unknown at this time.
