Rumors have been swirling that popular online gaming platform Roblox is shutting down.
Roblox allows users to make a virtual universe and participate in millions of games and interactive environments. Some content is developed by Roblox, but a lot of it is user-generated. The concept was released in September 2006.
Roblox has 111.8 million daily active users and engagement hours of 27.4 billion, according to the company's second quarter data for 2025 .
These rumors seemed to have originated from a fake announcement that was circulating on X on Aug. 18. However, the platform does have multiple potential lawsuits circulating.
