Two areas of Greater Manchester have been named among the best commuter towns in the UK. With the cost of city living continuing to climb, many professionals are looking further afield in search of more affordable house prices, rent costs and a manageable daily commute.

New research from Pepper Money has revealed the best commuter towns in the UK in 2025 - and it’s good news for Greater Manchester.

The mortgage specialised analysed more than 67 commuter towns across the country, scoring them out of 469 for their affordability, commuting time, rail cost, salary and quality of life.

Both Stalybridge and Stockport emerged in the top 10 commuter hotspots in the UK, offering a strong balance of affordable property costs, short commute times and a good quality of life.
