A new Conservative municipal political party has been approved to field candidates in 15 B.C. cities, including Kelowna, in next year’s civic elections.
Founders of the group say it is independent from both the provincial and federal Conservative parties, but shares their general political outlook.
“The decision to formally register as an elector organization builds on the enormous momentum of the conservative movement in recent years,” states a news release issued this week. “Our organization is solely focused on municipal issues and engagement at the local level.”
In addition to Kelowna, some of the cities where the group intends to run candidates are Kamloops, Vancouver, West Vancouver, Richmond, and Abbotsford. More cities will be added, the release says.
