We are tracking thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across portions of Southeast Texas on Friday, preparing to put a damper on your weekend plans.

Widespread storms are expected to develop across much of the coast to start the day, quickly becoming more widespread by midday and afternoon.

Some downpours may get strong, and lightning could be a frequent visitor through the afternoon and evening hours. If you’ve noticed a pattern this week, KPRC 2 Meteorologist Justin Stapleton points out that storms may once again fire up around 12 p.m. and follow a north-to-south track as steering currents keep things moving in that direction.
