A man in his 30s was killed and another injured after an Interstate 83 crash early Friday morning in York County, officials said.
The single vehicle crash happened at 2:15 a.m. at mile marker 34 in the southbound lanes in Newberry Township when a vehicle barelled through the gate of a weigh station, according to PennDOT.
PennDOT said the crash had minimal impact on southbound 83 traffic, with motorists briefly asked to move over, as the incident only involved the vehicle breaching a gate off the interstate.
The name of the man who died was not released, pending notification of relatives.
The crash caused a lane closure that lasted around four hours, according to Ted Czech, a spokesperson for the York County Office of Emergency Management. The crash site cleared at 6:12 a.m., he said.
