Fans hoping to buy a Thomas Müller Vancouver Whitecaps jersey may face disappointment. Since Müller joined the team earlier this month, jersey sales have surged, leading to a near depletion of the home “peak” jerseys. A team source reported that the official store in Gastown has sold out of men’s replica shirts, which typically come blank for fans to customize with a name. Currently, there are fewer than 50 authentic shirts available.
For those planning to attend the match at B.C. Place on Saturday against St. Louis FC, options will be limited. The team will offer only a small selection of shirts in men’s, women’s, and youth sizes. However, the store does have a variety of women’s and youth replica shirts in stock.
Adidas introduced a new home shirt design this season, but production is not frequent. Orders from teams and vendors require an eight-month lead time, and the recent demand has exceeded the usual supply the team maintains. In its 15 years in Major League Soccer, the Whitecaps have not made a late-season signing of Müller’s caliber before.
For fans still interested in a shirt, the team source mentioned that about 100 units of the previous home shirt, released in 2023, will be available for sale. This earlier design closely resembles the current shirt but features two red stripes framing a central navy blue band, while the current version has light blue stripes.
In addition to jerseys, fans can soon purchase other Müller-themed merchandise, including T-shirts and scarves. The navy blue away jersey, introduced in 2024, will be replaced by a new design next year, and those shirts remain available.
