The 49ers have bolstered their depleted running backs room ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

San Francisco is acquiring 26-year-old running back Brian Robinson in a trade with the Washington Commanders , ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Friday morning, citing sources.

San Francisco is sending a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to Washington in return, The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported, citing a source.

Robinson is flying to the Bay to take his physical with the 49ers, Schefter added.

The trade will become official if and once the physical is passed.
