WATERTOWN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Watertown High School was placed on lockdown on the second day of school.

Steve Jurrens of KXLG reported that the lockdown was commenced after a report of a weapon in a school bathroom Friday morning.

Police believe this message was a hoax.

The Watertown School District sent a message to parents at 9:32 a.m. saying the Police Department had received a call about a weapon after 9:00 a.m.

While the call was believed to be fake, the high school was placed on lockdown as a precaution.

All the rooms were searched following this.

A follow-up message to parents was sent at 9:46 a.m., confirming the lockdown had been lifted.

Watertown High School has continued with classes for the day.
